The James Lind Alliance is thrilled to share the news that Laura Coates, one of the Psoriatic Arthritis Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) leads, has been successful in achieving a NIHR Research Professor award.

With this award, Laura will use data from a large European study to develop a simple risk calculator to allow people with psoriasis to estimate their risk of developing arthritis. Not only will this help people living with psoriasis to understand their risk, but it will also help to design future studies to prevent arthritis development in people who are high risk. This work contributes to priorities 1 and 3 from the Psoriatic Arthritis PSP

Laura will also design a new national study to test personalisation of treatment for those who do develop arthritis. Laura will work with people living with psoriatic arthritis and medical teams to design this study using digital supports like apps. Within the study, they will be able to test different treatments and personalise these for different people.

We are excited to follow Laura's future achievements, well done Laura!
