Addressing PSP questions that are already answered

PSPs look for unanswered questions. However, sometimes people raise questions that are answered and do not need further research. Britney Duncan (pictured), Research Coordinator, Respiratory Research Centre, University of Saskatchewan, talks below about the videos produced by the Obstructive Sleep Apnea PSP to provide information on the answered questions which came up in their survey.
The Respiratory Research Centre (RRC) is excited to recognize Sleep Week 2022, and especially World Sleep Day on 18th March 2022, with the launch of 3 animated videos with a focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
These videos were produced with the help of our patient partners and LungSask. The videos aim to help people recognise what Sleep Apnea looks like, what options they have, and what they should do next.
As of a result of our James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership conducted between 2019 and 2021, we were able to establish a Top 10 list of research priorities for OSA in Saskatchewan. We also learned during this exercise that there were many questions from the public that were already answered but the information was not easily accessible to OSA patients and families. The RRC developed these animated shorts in an attempt to close that knowledge gap.
We hope that you enjoy and please feel free to share our videos in the hope that we can help others receive a better night’s sleep!
